Advent is upon us - a time to prepare our hearts for the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ, and his return at the end of time.

Yesterday, the cities of Austin and San Antonio experienced senseless acts of violence that claimed the lives of six people and injured others.  I am horrified by these tragic events that shook our communities.

As we close a year of celebration for the 75th anniversary of the Diocese of Austin, I call each of us to rekindle our love for Jesus Christ and his Church.

This month we close the 75th anniversary of the Diocese of Austin... We mark this occasion with a Mass of Thanksgiving on November 18.

On this day, we honor all men and women who have been welcomed by God into heaven and who the Church has canonized as saints.

I ask you to join our Holy Father, Pope Francis, in praying for peace in the Middle East.

I ask all clergy, religious and faithful in the Diocese to join me in praying the Rosary.

Today, the Memorial of St. Francis of Assisi, Pope Francis promulgated Laudate Deum,  the new Apostolic Exhortation concerning the climate crisis.

On this Labor Day weekend, as many of us take a break from work, we are invited to honor those who labor.

Like the pilgrims at World Youth Day, may we all be transformed, sharing in the victory over sin and always seeking the Blessed Virgin Mary’s guidance to grow closer to her son, Jesus.

This month the Church celebrates the feasts and memorials of some of the most memorable saints in our Catholic tradition.

Brothers and Sisters, this July 4th marks the 247th celebration of our country’s independence...

Today, we celebrate the gift of fatherhood. We look to St. Joseph whose loving commitment to his family is a role model to all fathers.

As we approach the one-year anniversary of the Supreme Court decision that overturned Roe vs. Wade, I remain grateful for the Court’s decision that upholds the gift of life given to us by God.

Pentecost Sunday comes just 50 days after Christ’s Passion, Death, and Resurrection, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles and the first followers of Jesus.

On Sunday, we honor our mothers, both living and deceased, who have dedicated their lives to making ours better.

The month of April was filled with the joys of Easter. Together we experienced Christ’s great victory over death and his invitation to journey with him and encounter his Mystical Body in the breaking of bread. 

God is so good to us; he promises us that he will accompany us through our journey of faith...

In this week’s gospel from Luke the setting is Easter Sunday when the Risen Christ meets two of his disciples on the road to Emmaus.
