Mientras la Iglesia conmemora el 800 aniversario del fallecimiento de San Francisco de Asís, estamos invitados a un momento sagrado de gracia. En su cuidado de los fieles, el Papa León ha otorgado una indulgencia plenaria hasta el 10 de enero de 2027, abriendo para toda la Iglesia un camino de renovación durante este Año de San Francisco.

As the Church commemorates the 800th anniversary of the passing of Saint Francis of Assisi, we are invited into a sacred moment of grace. In his care for the faithful, Pope Leo has granted a plenary indulgence through January 10, 2027, opening for the whole Church a path of renewal during this Year of Saint Francis.

Every gift helps form the next generation of priests who will one day celebrate the sacraments, preach the Word, and serve our parishes across Central Texas.

Peace be with you! As we enter into the glory of Easter, may our eyes of faith see the empty tomb recognizing that darkness and death do not prevail. May we open our hearts to receive the graces flowing from the Heart of Jesus Christ who has won for us victory over death – inviting us to eternal life.

The life-giving season of Lent is about to come to a close. It is my hope that it has been a very fruitful time for you. Beginning with the celebration of Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord, Holy Week begins.

On March 16th, addressing the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors, Pope Leo XIV encourages their mission to ensure abuse is prevented in the Church, insisting that such responsibility must be concretely confronted, and not delegated, to build a "culture of care."

La Cuaresma nos lleva al Desierto con Cristo. Es una temporada sagrada –que nos da la oportunidad de bajar la velocidad, reflexionar, y acercarnos a Él. Durante estos Cuarenta días, la Iglesia nos invita a enfocarnos en los tres pilares de la Cuaresma: la oración, el ayuno y la limosna.

Lent draws us into the desert with Christ. It’s a sacred season—one that gives us the chance to slow down, reflect, and grow closer to Him. During these forty days, the Church invites us to focus on the three pillars of Lent: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.

Twenty years ago, Sister Helene Hayes addressed a group of sisters in Ireland about the worldwide problem of human trafficking. The American Good Shepherd sister showed the sisters a video about child sex slavery — “Fields of Mudan” — focused on the experiences of a 5-year-old girl and left them stunned.

At least 1.2 million youngsters have disclosed having had their images manipulated into sexually explicit deepfakes in the past year, according to a study across 11 countries conducted by the UN agency, INTERPOL and the ECPAT global network working to end the sexual exploitation of children worldwide. In some countries, this represents one in 25 children or the equivalent of one child in a typical classroom, the study found. La Cuaresma es una temporada sagrada de oración, ayuno y limosna, que prepara a los fieles para la celebración de la Resurrección del Señor en Pascua. Durante estos cuarenta días, la Iglesia nos llama a la conversión continua del corazón, a una renovada confianza en la misericordia de Dios y a una participación más profunda en el Misterio Pascual, siguiendo la tradición bíblica de cuarenta días de preparación.

El 24-25 de enero, les he pedido a nuestros sacerdotes parroquiales que participen en nuestro sexto anual Domingo del Llamado. Dios desde siempre nos ha conocido a cada uno de nosotros por nuestro nombre y nos ha dado un llamado particular a seguir. El Domingo del Llamado se trata primeramente de escuchar, y después de responder al llamado de Dios.
