Watch the VIDEO MESSAGE Brothers and sisters, today we celebrate the glorious resurrection of Christ!
Throughout the Lenten season, we prepared ourselves to enter into the mystery of Christ’s passion and death culminating in his rising from the dead. We accompanied Christ through his suffering on the cross which led us to the empty tomb.
Today, our churches will be filled with joyous acclamations of "Alleluia!” announcing Jesus’ triumph over death! We welcome the newly baptized and confirmed who have celebrated the Eucharist for the first time. This is the beginning of a new life for them and for us, too, as we renew our baptismal promises.
As we gather with friends and family, I pray that the light of the Risen Christ will fill our hearts with joy. May this joy move us to be witnesses of the Resurrection to all those we encounter.
Know that I will pray for you throughout this Easter season asking God to strengthen your Catholic faith and your love for the Eucharist. I ask you to pray for me that I may be a good shepherd of the Diocese of Austin.
God bless all of you – in the name of the father, and of the son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
