Groundbreaking Ceremony - St. Martin de Porres, Dripping Springs
St. Martin de Porres Parish in Dripping Springs celebrated a historic groundbreaking ceremony for their new sanctuary. More than 250 people gathered as the long-awaited vision for a new church building began to take shape.

Lumen Gentium Awards
The Lumen Gentium Awards were inaugurated in 2004 by Bishop Gregory M. Aymond as a way to recognize Catholics who exemplified the spirit of the Vatican II document Lumen Gentium. The 2026 Lumen Gentium awards ceremony was held on June 16 at 7 p.m. at the Mayborn Convention Center in Temple. This year, Bishop Garcia honored 87 individuals/couples with this award.

The annual diocesan Middle School Rally was at St. John Vianney Parish in Round Rock. Youth in grades 6-8 from across the diocese came together in a conference format for a fun-filled day of dynamic keynote presentations, prayer, fellowship, and workshops that help them grow in faith.

In remembrance of our Lord's death, Bishop Daniel E. Garcia presided over the Celebration of the Passion of Our Lord at St. Mary Cathedral, where he led in the reverencing of the cross.

March 31Chrism Mass
Bishop Daniel E. Garcia celebrated the Chrism Mass at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Austin. The Chrism Mass is one of the most solemn and important annual liturgies for the diocesan church. This is the Mass during which the priests of the diocese renew their priestly promises, and the bishop consecrates the Sacred Chrism and blesses the Oil of the Catechumens and the Oil of the Sick, which will be used at diocesan parishes for the next year.

Feb. 28Fishers of Men
The Office of Vocations hosted a retreat for young men discerning a call to the priesthood. Participants attended Mass celebrated by Bishop Garcia, spent time in Eucharistic Adoration, and connected with priests from across the diocese, hearing their vocation stories and learning more about the priesthood.

Staff members and visitors participated in the Mass, which included the tradition of Candlemas, the distribution and blessing of candles, symbolizing Christ as the light of the world.
