As we celebrate Independence Day, we praise God for the freedom we enjoy in this nation. May we always give due honor for the liberties secured by countless others who have come before—and for the true freedom won for us by Christ on the cross. We also hold in our thoughts and prayers those in our world for whom freedom remains an unfulfilled aspiration and especially for those for whom the freedom of religion is not possible where they live.
In addition to our nation’s birthday, our local Church rejoices in the wonderful gift of a new bishop! On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, named the Most Reverend Daniel E. Garcia of the Diocese of Monterey, California our next bishop. We remain ever grateful for God’s good providence and Pope Leo’s pastoral attentiveness to our diocese in choosing Bishop Garcia as our next shepherd.
I invite you to stay connected to our different social media platforms where we will announce the date of Bishop Garcia’s installation, probably in mid to late September.
Wishing you a safe and happy 4th of July in God’s good grace, Fr. James Misko, Diocesan Administrator
