The Bishop John McCarthy Memorial Build, or also known as the 'Catholic Build', is a partnership between the Diocese of Austin and Austin Habitat for Humanity. Each year since 1998, the Diocese of Austin and the Austin area parishes have sponsored a Habitat for Humanity build. The Catholic Build was renamed to honor the man who got the Austin Catholic community started in this effort, Bishop John McCarthy. This partnership has gifted 29 homes to families in the area, with the 30th in progress this year.
The Catholic Build runs every Saturday for a total of 10 weeks from February 28 to April 25. Individuals and groups can support by either volunteering on the build site or by sponsoring lunch on the build days.
