Poverty Awareness Month

During Poverty Awareness Month, join the U.S. bishops, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, and the Catholic community in the United States in taking up Pope Leo's challenge to live in solidarity with the poor.

You can read daily reflections provided by the USCCB on ways to learn about poverty, get inspired by how communities are responding, and take action with others.


Dilexi Te
In 2025, Pope Leo released his first apostolic exhortation, Dilexi Te (I Have Loved You). This exhortation focuses on Christ's love for the poor and the call for the Church to renew its commitment to those most in need. 
In this year's Poverty Awareness Month, Catholics are encouraged to read and pray with the exhortation.

The condition of the poor is a cry that, throughout human history, constantly challenges our lives, societies, political and economic systems, and, not least, the Church. On the wounded faces of the poor, we see the suffering of the innocent and, therefore, the suffering of Christ himself.
