Year of Saint Francis of AssisiOn the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the saint's transitus to heaven

His Holiness Pope Leo XIV has arranged that, from January 10, 2026, to January 10, 2027, the Year of St. Francis will be celebrated, during which all the Christian faithful are invited to follow the example of the Saint of Assisi, becoming models of holiness of life and constant witnesses of peace. The Apostolic Penitentiary grants the plenary indulgence under the usual conditions to those who participate devoutly in this extraordinary jubilee, which represents an ideal continuation of the Ordinary Jubilee of 2025.
This Jubilee Year is addressed especially to members of the Franciscan Families of the First, Second and Third Regular and Secular Orders, as well as to Institutes of Consecrated Life, Societies of Apostolic Life and Associations that observe the Rule of St. Francis or are inspired by its spirituality. However, the grace of this special year is also extended to all the faithful without distinction who, with their spirits removed from sin, visit in the form of a pilgrimage any Franciscan conventual church or place of worship dedicated to St. Francis in any part of the world

Celebrating 10 Years of Laudato Si'Pope Francis reminds us in his encyclical, Laudato Si', that "Everything is related, and we human beings are united as brothers and sisters on a wonderful pilgrimage, woven together by the love God has for each of his creatures and which also unites us in fond affection with brother sun, sister moon, brother river, and mother earth" (LS 92). He reminds us that creation is one of our most direct and intimate connections with God.
As we remember the legacy of Pope Francis and heed the call of Pope Leo XIV for peace and unity in our world, we invite the faithful to join in prayer and action during this 10th anniversary year.

Laudato Si' Animators ProgramRegistration is now open for the Laudato Si' Animators online course starting on April 15, 2026.
Laudato Si’ Animators are members of the Laudato Si Movement, a global community of prayer and action, who animate their local parishes and communities to engage in ecological spirituality, sustainable lifestyles and advocacy for climate and ecological justice. Animators work to bring Pope Francis’s encyclical Laudato Si’ to life and care for our common home.

Parish Ministry Materials
Parishes are invited to form integral Creation Care Ministries or also referred as "Creation Care Teams" that reflect the teachings of Laudato Si’. This path integrates members of the parish to efficiently collaborate on developing Laudato Si’ initiatives, education, prayer, liturgy, and transformative actions to respond to the inseparable Cry of the Earth and the Cry of the Poor.
