All are invited to celebrate the Festival - Jamaica at St. Louis King of France Parish in Austin on Aug. 23. The day will include live music, local flavor and lots of parish spirit.

Aug. 23: Triumph of the Cross, a Discalced Carmelite Secular community, will host a breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Santa Rosa de Lima Parish in Andice. Brother Vladimir Guadalupe of Sts. Louis & Zelie, OCD, will present “Why are they saints? Sts. Louis & Zelie, and their daughter St. Therese.” The event is free and open to all. The Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting meets quarterly to assess the needs of our Catholic Scouting population and to plan age-appropriate events to foster a deeper appreciation of our faith. In addition, the committee sponsors adult training for religious emblem counselor roles. St. Mary in Ellinger will host its 75th annual Bazaar Aug. 24 at the Ellinger chamber of Commerce Community Center. Fried chicken and sausage dinner plates will be served beginning at 10:30 a.m. ($15 per plate). The Austin Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (ADCCW) will host the 36th annual Rural Life Mass Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. at St. Monica Parish in Cameron. A meal will be served afterwards in the parish hall. The Mass gives thanks for the harvest and all those who labor to harvest our fields.

A Candlelight Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. at the Shrine of Our Lady of Schoenstatt in Austin. Join us every last Saturday of the month as we come together for a beautiful evening of prayer and reflection. St. John Parish in Fayetteville will host its annual Picnic Aug. 31 on the parish grounds. The day begins with Mass (featuring Polka music) at 10 a.m. Barbecue beef, pork and sausage will be available beginning at 10:30 a.m. for $15 per plate. Sts. Cyril and Methodius Parish in Granger will host its annual Bazaar Aug. 31 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the parish hall at 500 West Davilla in Granger. The day will begin with Mass at 10 a.m. followed by a barbecue and sausage dinner (plates are $15 each). The afternoon will feature fun, fellowship and games for all ages. The live auction will begin at 1:30 p.m., and the day will conclude with a dance from 6-10 p.m. ($10 per person).

St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in College Station hosts a Holy Hour for Vocations on the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the main church. All are welcome!

In an effort to look ahead at the vision of our Church, the Office of Social Justice and Multicultural Engagement, with Deacon Joseph Cannon, will be hosting a series of gatherings to discuss and gain insight as to what the most pertinent objectives and action items are for the black apostolate of the Diocese of Austin. The fruits of these gatherings will result in our new Regional Plan of Action concerning the Black Apostolate.

Father Kevin Rai leads Marian Mornings on first Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon at St. Elizabeth Parish in Pflugerville. The morning includes Mass, a teaching, prayer time, silence and time for the sacrament of reconciliation.

St. John Neumann Parish in Austin hosts a Mass for Vocations at 8:45 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month.

St. Mary Church of the Assumption in Waco hosts a Mass and Holy Hour for Vocations on the first Saturday of each month at 9 a.m. All are welcome!

A Filipino Mass is celebrated on the first Saturday of the month at 4 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Parish in Austin. Fellowship follows right after the Mass at the Parish Activity Center. It’s a potluck dinner, so please bring a dish to share. Come and join us and meet your kababayan!

St. Joseph Parish in Marlin will host its annual Fall Festival on Sept. 7 on the parish grounds. There will be a barbecue dinner, consisting of brisket, sausage, new potatoes, green beans, bbq sauce, pickles, onions, bread and dessert. Sts. Cyril and Methodius Parish in Marak will host its annual Homecoming Picnic Sept. 14 on the parish grounds (7 miles NW of Cameron on FM 2269). Mass will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m. Games for all ages begin at 11:30 a.m. Home-fried chicken and sausage meal will be served at 11 a.m. Meal tickets are $15 each. St. Mary Parish in San Saba will host their Fall Festival Sept. 14 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the parish grounds. There will be a variety of food and entertainment, a cake walk, game booths, silent auction, and more. Come share the fun.

The Congregation of Holy Cross — founders of St. Edward’s University, St. Ignatius Martyr Parish, and over a dozen other parishes around the Diocese of Austin—will be hosting a relic of the congregation’s only canonized saint, St. André Bessette, aka, the “Miracle Man of Montreal,” from Sept. 19-26. The first event will be a Mass and presentation at St. Ignatius Martyr on Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m. Other stops will include St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic School, St. Edward’s University, San Juan Diego Catholic High School, and Holy Cross High School (in San Antonio). Holy Qurbono (Holy Mass) in the Syro-Malankara Catholic Rite is celebrated every third Sunday of the month at 3 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Austin. The celebrant of the Holy Mass is Father Saji Lukose, associate pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish.

The Knights of Columbus from St. Martin de Porres Parish in Dripping Springs will host the Hill Country Golf Shootout Sept. 27 at Vaaler Creek Golf Club. The day will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. All are invited to participate in the four-person scramble, which will raise funds for the new church at St. Martin de Porres Parish and for local charities. At this Mass, Scouts from Scouts BSA, Girl Scouts, and American Heritage Girls who have earned a religious emblem or award in the previous year.  Eagle Scouts and Gold Award and Stars and Stripes awardees are invited to attend. Adult recognition awards are also awarded at this Mass.
