Me siento profundamente triste y perturbado por el tiroteo en el cual resulto herido un hombre y en el que se vio involucrado un agente de ICE en la ciudad de Austin. Nos encontramos en un momento en este país y ciudad, en el que la gente vive aterrorizada debido a la mayor actividad de agentes de ICE en nuestras calles.

I am deeply saddened and disturbed by the shooting of a man involving an ICE officer in the city of Austin. We find ourselves in a time in this country and city, when people are living in terror and fear because of the increased activity of ICE agents on our streets.

El Santo Padre ha pedido a los obispos que reconozcan el 800 aniversario de San Francisco de manera que “todo fiel Cristiano, siguiendo el ejemplo del Santo de Asís, se convierta en modelo de santidad de vida y un testimonio constante de paz”. On June 8, 2025, the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments promulgated the Latin formulary and Lectionary citations to be used in the Mass “For the Care of Creation.” The Holy See released the proper liturgical texts in Latin, and on August 4, 2026, the Dicastery confirmed the English and Spanish translations of those texts.

In preparation for the meeting of our Holy Father Pope Leo XIV with the heads of eastern churches and the presidents of Episcopal conferences on October 7 through 14, 2026, I ask for your help and participation in a survey created for the faithful in the Diocese of Austin.

In our Catholic Services Appeal (CSA), the Diocese of Austin tells one story with many voices. It is heard in the “yes” of a seminarian, the quiet service of a retired priest, the prayer of a Catholic school student, the family welcomed in a moment of need, the young adult who discovers a home in campus ministry, and the parish whose doors remain open ready to receive the People of God.

May we continue to work together for the common good and for a society in which all citizens are able to participate fully and faithfully in our democracy.

Mientras el Centro de Texas experimenta intensas lluvias, damos gracias a Dios por el don de la lluvia, que renueva la tierra y sostiene su creación. Al mismo tiempo, elevamos nuestras oraciones por todas las personas que puedan verse afectadas por lo que se describe como un posible evento de inundaciones sin precedentes. Pedimos al Señor que proteja toda vida humana y fortalezca a quienes sirven y responden.

As Central Texas experiences significant rainfall, we give thanks to God for the gift of rain that refreshes the earth and sustains His creation. We also lift in prayer all those who may be impacted by what is being described as the potential for unprecedented flooding, asking the Lord to protect lives and strengthen those who serve and respond.
